OUR STORY

Contract Pharmacy Services has been serving the pharmaceutical needs of institutional facilities for over forty years. Founded as Wayne Pharmacy in 1976 in Hatboro, PA, the company has evolved from a local retail pharmacy chain, into a highly specialized pharmacy providing services to correctional facilities nationwide, long-term care facilities throughout the Delaware Valley, and behavioral health organizations in PA and NJ.

Wayne Shafer, R.Ph. is Founder and Chief Executive Officer of the company. Wayne graduated from the Philadelphia College of Pharmacy and Science in 1972 and purchased a retail pharmacy in 1976 in Hatboro, PA. That pharmacy, known as Wayne Pharmacy, serviced three local nursing homes: the Orangeman’s Home (now known as Maple Village), Christ’s Home, and the Eastern Star Home. Over the next ten years, Wayne grew the business to include three retail pharmacies and one nursing home pharmacy. The number of local homes served by the retail stores also grew, as the company expanded in the Doylestown and Philadelphia markets. In 1988, Wayne decided to sell the retail stores so he could focus on long-term care and institutional pharmacy services. CPS was incorporated with a name to reflect the shift from retail pharmacy to institutional pharmacy. Wayne remains an active member of the leadership team and often participates in client visits.

The main pharmacy and corporate headquarters are located in Warrington, PA. In addition to our core business, we also own and operate several on-site pharmacies throughout the Philadelphia area.

Throughout our history, CPS has grown by offering the highest level of customer service and expanding pharmacy-related technology resources to our clients and their residents. Our staff stability and commitment exceeds that of our national competitors. We focus on customer satisfaction by responding quickly to our client’s requests and solving problems efficiently.

CPS is a 24x7x365 operation, designed to meet the evolving needs of our clients who many times admit patients after normal business hours. We continually add to our medication distribution equipment to keep current with technology and pass those efficiencies to our clients. We interface with many EHR/EMR systems and have a dedicated technical team to assist our clients through any transition. In short, we are proud of the capabilities we offer and who we are as a company.
